Jolchhobi translates to - as you see your reflection in a water body.
The first stories Nefertiti heard from her grandmother, in the round lucid language of Bangla, influence her imagination and have stuck with her through her childhood and beyond. Resonating within her and the stories shared here.
Through Jolchhobi, Nefertiti Chakrabarti and Arnav Kakar strive to create films of hope and resilience. The idea is to emulate that resonance, that deep reverberation you feel when a story stays with you.
While they specialise in underwater cinematography, they also cook, surf, dance and sing while writing and researching life's many mysteries.
